Being a Father and a Parent counts!

I came across this video today and it really sums up my feelings about being the best parent you can be. I thought this would be appropriate for Boomers to think about, whether you’re a Mom or a Dad, even though it’s about being a father. As we get older and often think about some of the dreams we had or things we may have had accomplished, we need to remind ourselves not to think that we sacrificed those dreams in any way by being a good parent. I admit that I often have wondered what I could have done in music if I stayed single and traveled and only ate, slept and played music, but I always reminded myself that nothing has ever really made me feel better than being a parent. All you have to do is think of the smiling faces of your children to remember that feeling. Nothing we ever do is a waste of time. It is what is is. It is what makes us the person we are!

I know that I will leave a mark on this world.... in the two special human beings I helped bring into it. They have and always will make this a better world than it was before they were here.

Enjoy this video, especially the great drawings and song. No, I didn’t write the song... I wish I had!

Lovely. Beverly told me about this. I have a feeling I should know who the singer is - his voice is very familiar. Loved it and thanks for sharing.

David!

Found you via Beverly Mahone and I'm so glad she recommended your blog!

I loved what you had to say and how the video represented your comment so well. As an artist myself I was really enjoying how the creator, Trevor, used his art and sketching to write a story! Now I want to do something similar! I loved the way he erased a drawing representing how live brings us changes and surprises that we need to adjust to!

This also brought home the sacrifices made by my parents for myself and my siblings, something I always want to keep in my memories of them.

Your children must adore you.

Thank you.

Thank you all for you comments and sharing your thoughts! I have found that the hardest thing about being a parent is that it's not about US and how we think about life the the world. We try to put our best into our children to make them better than us, but that also brings you so into their lives, that it is hard to separate from them. In the end, I try to remember that I've done all I can and now it's up to them, whether they do what I think is right or not, they are the ones now to shape their lives and their children.

Take care and I hope you all continue to read my blog, as I will do the same in return.

By the way, for all of you parents, if you are moved by such videos, get out your tissues and watch this one about parents. I have it in an earlier post of mine:
